More significant than a record number of toys(11,000!) distributed this season was the individual impact gifts had on the health, happiness and hope of local families. Not simply those receiving but those on the giving side as well:
-
“I am blown away each year at our community’s efforts to take care of those in need. Without the toys that we receive from Toys For Tots we would not be able to provide gifts for all the families that we serve” remarked Melissa a volunteer for Aptos Pantry. “My own 2 ½ year old was helping wrap toys and excited told me, ‘Mommy we are going to give gifts to the children!’ That was the biggest gift of all, to know that we are passing on a spirit of generosity to our children.”
-
From Pajaro, at The Church of the Assumption, member and volunteer Diana commented, “An eight year old boy was thrilled to have received a gift and when I explained that Toys For Tots had donated the gifts he said that when he grows up he will also donate toys for the needy. Your thoughtful support continues to inspire a spirit of thanksgiving.”
On behalf of the Santa Cruz County Toys For Tots family, including these 2011 Participating Agencies, we thank you for your support!

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, now in its 64rd year, was developed for the simple purpose of spreading Christmas cheer to children in need. In communities where no Reserve unit exists, volunteers and business leaders continue the tradition of providing the gift of hope to area children. In Santa Cruz County, Watsonville and Aptos/LaSelva Fire Departments, with assitance from CAL Fire Corralitos & Pajaro Dunes, Boulder Creek Fire and partners throughout the county, have continued the mission and invite the public in delivering a message of hope, building self-esteem and mentoring children living in poverty by exposing them to the positive examples of courage, concern.
